Aikido Winter Camp

We will be running 2, 5 day training intensives for children (4-12 years old) from the 19th to 23rd December.

Doing this type of training really helps to instill fundamentals in students. We will also be introducing the kids to the bokken, a wooden sword, that is used to develop a good understanding of timing, distance and body movement in Aikido.

This camp is open to non members. Please let us know as soon as possible if you would like to sign your child up as space is limited.

Date: December 19 to 23, 2016

Time: 9:30 - 10:30 am (4-7 years), 10:45 - 11:45 (8-12 years)

Cost: $50 for a week

Special class with Tony Hind Sensei

We are pleased to announce that Tony Hind Sensei will be coming to Squamish November 26th. Hind Sensei is a 6th degree black belt who lived in Japan for over 12 years training extensively at the Aikikai Hombu Dojo. He started and ran what is probably still the largest kids program in the world while he lived there. He is the Technical Director of the Canadian Aikido Association and Chief Instructor at the East Van Aikikai.

I've had the privilege of training under Hind Sensei now for well over 10 years and worked under him in Tokyo for several of those.
We will also be celebrating one of his senior students' recent promotion to 4th dan. Steve Watson and I came up the ranks of Aikido together and it's a pleasure to have this opportunity to honor him. Steve is the head instructor for the Abbotsford Aikikai and I have the privilege of practicing with him most Sundays at Hind Sensei's dojo in East Vancouver.

We are expecting guests from Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, Victoria and Salt Spring Island to be in attendance. Please come out and take advantage of this opportunity to learn and train with some high level practitioners.

Martial Madness Movie Night #3

Martial Madness Movie Night #3

Movie of the Month:  Kung Fu Panda 2

Date: November 25 (Fri)

Time: 6:00-9:00 pm

Kids call it movie night, but most parents call it "Date Night". Some even just call it "Start the Carrrrrrr!"

Every 3rd Friday Night at the Dojo is Martial Madness - The Movie Night. You get a little break and the kids get a lot of fun. All of the Aikido kids, BBJ kids, and their invited friends gather together to get to know one another off the mats a little better and bond. Games, movie, pizza, and beverages are provided.

Here are the details:

1. Each dojo member is encouraged to bring a friend. This is a great way for kids to get introduced to the dojo in a non-intimidating way.

2. Drop off: 6pm

3. Pick up: 9pm (anytime after 8:30pm)

4. Menu: Pizza, veggie platter, and juice boxes. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions in advance.

5. Cost: By food donation to our hamper.

Please email grant.babin@aikidaily.com by the Wednesday evening prior to the event to confirm attendance.
