YOGA CLASS

Monday: Noon - 1:30 pm

Sunday: 10:30 am - noon

The word Yoga is a Sanskrit word which means to unite or to unify. This Yoga practice is to enhance the connection between the mind, body and soul. While Yoga is most commonly practiced in a physical Hatha Yoga format the real aim is to understand that all Yoga takes place within the mind. The goal is to dive deep into our own conscious experience and become aware of all aspects of the body. Pranayama, body movements and strength building are key to moving stagnant energy and reprogramming the mind to correct the posture. Many variations of traditional asanas to ensure correct posture make this a perfect introduction for beginners.

Leaving my ordinary job behind I began my spiritual journey that would lead me to travel across Nepal and India. Challenging myself on a solo adventure through the Himalayas I realized the power of the mind and simultaneously found answers I had been looking for. I would end up living as a monk for nearly half a year and continue these practices daily. Going on pilgrimage to many holy places across Nepal and India, visiting many temples and participating in many spiritual rituals. Returning to Australia I would end up cycling 2000km down the eastern coast where I found myself at a massive Eco/Yoga community. There I would focus on deep sadhana and yoga asanas as well as perma-culture and understanding the connections and relationships between us and the world. After this, I returned back to Nepal and began working in remote village communities to learn ancient techniques of working with the land. Setting up programs that would allow meditation and yoga to schools and using those tools to increase their academics. Also creating programs that focused daily on healthy food to underprivileged children. I continue and always focus on diet as one of the most important aspects of health and continuously study and work on ayurvedic techniques aimed towards developing a greater understanding of natural healing. Today I continue my yogic practices based around the ancient Vedic philosophy of yoga that embody all aspects of yoga, including Bhakti yoga, Karma yoga, Jnana yoga and of course Hatha yoga or the traditional body movement.
