Our schedule will be changed as follows from January 6th.
Unfortunately, we need to cancel the noon Monday noon until the beginning of February as we will be back teaching at Skyridge Montessori School in the new year on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for 5 weeks. The Monday neen classes will resume the second week of February, on the 10th.
Etsunen Geiko - New Year's Eve Aikido Practice and Celebration

In the spirit of the Aikikai World Headquarters' annual tradition, immerse yourself in the "Etsunen Geiko" experience! Aikido practitioners converge from distant places, uniting for the final half hour of the old year and the first half hour of the new one
Post-practice, revel in the joyous commencement of the year with delightful snacks and the shared warmth of Japanese sake. It's a time-honored ritual that transcends the mat, creating memories that linger long into the future.
Leo Tamaki sensei from France will be our guest in Squamish.

Leo Tamaki Bio:
Leo Tamaki is a prominent figure in the martial arts community, particularly known for his contributions to Aikido. Born to a Japanese father and a French/Croatian mother, Tamaki's multicultural background has significantly influenced his approach to martial arts. He began his martial arts journey with Judo at the age of six, later exploring Kung-Fu, Karate, and Full Contact before discovering Aikido at the age of 21.
Tamaki's Aikido training began under the guidance of Nobuyoshi Tamura, a notable Aikido master. In 1998, he moved to Japan to train at the Aikikai Hombu Dojo, a central hub for Aikido practitioners. After returning to France in 2001, he opened a martial arts equipment business and started a martial arts blog. He returned to Japan in 2007 for further training and eventually committed to teaching Aikido full-time.
Leo Tamaki is the founder of Kishinkai Aikido, a school that has expanded to include 35 dojos across 12 countries. His practice is influenced by several martial arts masters, including Tamura Nobuyoshi in Aikido, Hino Akira in Hino Budo, Kuroda Tetsuzan in Iaijutsu and Kenjutsu, and Kono Yoshinori in Kobujutsu.
In addition to his teaching, Tamaki is actively involved in promoting martial arts through events like "La nuit des Arts Martiaux Traditionnels" and his magazine "YASHIMA," which specializes in martial arts. He conducts Aikido classes in Paris and travels extensively to teach and share his knowledge across Europe and beyond.

Our teens will be hosting the kids under our supervision. All donations will go to support future training events for our young leaders.
Parents get a little break and the kids get to have a lot of fun!
The movie will be played in the dojo, so that we have lots of room and space will be limited to 20 kids. This is a great opportunity for all the kids to meet outside of class, eat some snacks together, socialize and create stronger connections. We will provide the popcorn, homemade lemonade, take time to play games and watch a show.
Drop off for movie nights is after 6:15 pm. Pick up is between 8:30 and 9:00 pm.
Movie nights are by donation.

This is a great opportunity for our intermediate students to deepen their knowledge of how the techniques they practice in regular classes function.
Fee: $65 ($10 discount for Jr. Mentor, $20 discount for Mentor, and free for AI)
Registration is open now!
*Jr.Mentors, Mentors, and Assistant Instructors are encouraged to attend intensives to deepen their understanding of the techniques and keep their skills fresh. To maintain their status, they are required to attend at least one intensive training session a year.
